Silver End Site Pictures
Great to be able to share these progress shots from our developer residential scheme in Silver End, Essex. POWs Matthew visited the site during lockdown.
Silver End is a model village linked to the manufacture of Crittal Windows built in ‘The International Style’ in the late 1920s. Designed by eminent Scottish modernist architect Thomas S Tait this influential work formed the thread from which our designs would emerge.
Our site was the old car park to the factory which closed in 2008 and we were presented with the unique challenge of delivering a heritage friendly planning scheme in a modernist vernacular. The scheme used the form and material of the original 1920s houses in the village, adapting them to modern standards, particularly by having split level units with car ports under to allow a shared courtyard space in front of the houses.
Key planning achievements were getting additional units onto the site whilst maintaining a sense a spaciousness.
We then moved onto provide detailed designs for the developer to build out.
We have 10 years of experience delivering end to end residential schemes for small, medium, and large housing developers, if you would like to work with us on similar projects then please get in touch. #planning#residential#developer#heritage
