SARAH BONNELL SCHOOL, london

01   /   06   /   2016

We worked closely on the budget of the scheme, working with known suppliers to provide accurate costings for our designs allowing the client cost certainty, which was key to their business plan.

The proposal creates a series of architectural spaces, with light and airy vaulted ceilings in the classrooms and a colonnaded link bridge that unites the existing school together with the new classrooms. Additionally, this provides an area for sheltering from poor weather and to eat lunch with views over the landscaped courtyard. Natural textured materials bring the courtyard deep inside the building to create a greater sense of space.

Learning from the materials palette and period aesthetic of the existing Edwardian buildings, as well as the more contemporary building additions of recent years, our proposal creates a visually defined square by using materials drawn from both forms of building.
